designing a Bubble sprite

This is the guide for designing your MYO, or redesigning an existing Bubble Sprite!

MYO (Make Your Own)

Getting started

Once you have obtained an MYO egg (you can obtain your first one in the Beginner Shop) you'll want to start thinking of what you want your Bubble Sprite to look like. All MYOs default to being able to use all Common traits. To be able to use any Unusual, Rare, Mutation, or Undead traits, you'll need to get your hands on the proper potions. Potions can be gotten in multiple ways:

  • Bought in the Potion Shop, or directly from Jelli on special occasion.
  • Rolled in Loot Boxes, which can be gotten in several ways themselves.
  • Earned as Prompt rewards.
  • As a prize for opening this box (tap to collect)!

All traits can be viewed in the Trait Encyclopedia, and their rarities are color coded. Common MYO eggs have the ability to make one of four elements - FireWater, Earth or Air. To be able to make Light or Dark type Bubble Sprites, you'll need a special egg. You'll choose your element, as well as what traits you want, and design your character!

Submitting your MYO

Now that you've designed your character, it's time to get them on the Masterlist! Before submitting it officially, if you'd like to have it checked for "unofficial approval", you may message Jelli, or any of the Staff on the Discord Server. Otherwise, follow these steps to submit them properly:

  1. Make sure you have a digital full-body drawing of the character, with a transparent background. You may add an additional accessory to the side, or you may have a version with and without clothing. However, full multi-view references are not allowed for the Masterlist.
  2. Go to your profile and select your MYO slot. If you still have it as an egg, select the egg, and click "Use Slot". Make sure the check box on the left hand side is marked!
  3. In the sidebar menu, at the very bottom, there is a "Submit Design" button. Click that and follow the instructions to fill out the submission.
  4. Be sure everything is filled out. If you're using potions for extra traits, make sure you've selected them from your inventory to add to the character.
  5. Save and Submit your design! It will be reviewed, and will either be approved, or it will be denied with a note telling you how to fix anything.

Once all of this is done and your design is approved, you're all set with your very own Bubble Sprite! You'll now be able to participate in Story Prompts with your new character!

Redesigns

What is a redesign?

Redesigns are when you have an existing Bubble Sprite, and wish to change its appearance on the Masterlist. However, out of respect for all artists who have designed a Bubble Sprite, we do not allow full overhauls of character designs. They must have some semblance of the original, and it will be judged on a case-by-case basis of whether the redesign is too far off from the original. Some examples of redesigns are:

  • Changing the hairstyle of the character
  • Eliminating or adding a color to the design
  • Adding or swapping a trait to the character
  • Altering the patterns on the character

So you may change these types of things as many times as you want, as long as it always maintains some resemblance to the original character.

Redesign limits

Trying to define what would be "too far" off the original design is rather complicated. So we've prepared an example to hopefully help with understanding.

  • The Orignal (OG) design is on the left.
  • The middle design is a redesigned form of the OG. The colors have been altered, and some traits added. But it is still recognizable as the orignal. This would be considered an acceptable redesign!
  • The right design is entirely different from the original. The colors, patterns, and overall design don't reflect the original much at all. We will never allow a Bubble Sprite to be redesigned with a different element. They can have a different form of their same element (ex: Earth-type being changed from Sprouts to Flowers) but the root element must stay the same.

As soon as you're comfortable with your redesign, you may submit it in the same way that you'd submit a MYO design! The process follows the same steps, but if you have any questions about it, please feel free to ask Jelli or staff for help.
