Young Lumi had managed to slip away from her brothers in the market and was quite proud of it, Thank you. They were always hovering to close by and she hated it far too over protective she felt. Looking deeper into the darkening meadow she found herself in, Lumi was happy to still see hedsloths and butterflies flitting through the early spring forest. She was on a quest to discover how to use her powers. She had been playing around with them a bit learning that they were much stronger and easier at night. She could easily cast a soft glow from the light of her bubble but that was about it at the moment. Lumi knew that there had to be more to it than just being able to cast a soft glow her brothers were all so good with their powers, and she was the last even after her younger brother Pix. So determined she sat out deeper into the forest, not really paying too much attention to where she was going, but enjoying herself and following the trails and paths that the animals had left behind until she realized it was so dark she was the one casting the light she was seeing by. Startled, she turned to look at her bubble, and realized it was glowing as bright as the moon overhead, though hidden behind clouds and forest canopy. Excited Lume sat down, paying no attention to the soft growl in the forest behind her. Carefully she touched her bubble, thinking of all the times, her brothers and friends, and made fun of her for never figuring out how to use her powers, even though it was well past time as her fingers graze the top of her bubble lantern shock went through her, and she realized she could sense the emotions of the creatures around her, and one of them was very hungry. Turning and looking up, Lumi was met by a huge set of eyes, very pointy long teeth, and a smell that reminded Lumi of the meat some Sprites ate. Scared and panicking Lumi pushed all of her hope to the front praying to the gods that she would be okay, that she would make it back to her brothers. I in response, her bubble glowed slightly brighter and a soothing feeling came over Lumi. Looking up at the beast she lifted her tail up high to cast a larger circle of illumination covering it with the glow of her lantern. The best reaction was immediate. The growling stopped, and it looked at her a little, confused, almost puppy, like before, turning and walking back into the forest, shaking from adrenaline, and still not knowing where she was, Lumi began to cry in amazement. She had done it she figured it out! Where was she though? And how did she get home making up her mind and becoming determined, cause the glow to become a little brighter, and she felt brave. Turning back to face the way she came. She was sure now that she could find the way with the help of her lantern, and knowing that she would be safe from any dangers in the forest because her magic was the magic of light and emotion. Anything caught in the glow of Lumi‘s lamp would show her there emotional state, and it could be changed. This excited Lumi, because she had wanted to work for the healers and with them forever, but had no healing powers. She figured that with this new magic and having figured out how to use it she could help them recover and soothe any and all patients! Slowly, becoming familiar with feeling the emotions of all of the sleeping and hunting animals around her, she slowly retraces her steps coming back to the meadow happily yelling for her brothers, who she knew would be searching for her nearby. Sol was the first to come followed quickly by Nox and Pix.
“Where were you?” Sol ground out angry she was gone
“ Well you see you guys never let me stretch my wings or figure things out so I figured I would do that today I slipped away and guess what I did it!” Lumi stated, and Nox perked up at that
“You figured it out?” His voice was deep and gentle.
“Yeppers I sure did” Lumi bounced proud of herself
“Show us!” Pix demanded
Holding her tail, hi to cast a glow over her brothers, Lumi pushes out the feeling of love and contentment . Sol shakes his head almost looking confused about why he had been so angry “Lumi be careful that could be dangerous, you just took away my anger and my fire. If we were attacked now, I couldn’t help.” Sol stated much more calmly than he had been a few moments ago. Both Pix and Nox watched on in amazement Lumi had just disabled who they would think of as the strongest of the siblings. “Congratulations Lumi!” Pix smiled and Nox nodded adding his congratulations. Sol looked over the group and shook his head again still trying to shake off the effects of Lumis magic. “Hey Lumi could you please stop?” Lumi nods quickly letting her lantern come back down causing the illumination in the meadow to be much more of a dim glow but smacking Nox in her rush. Reflectively he grabs the top handle of her bubble as he had so many time when she was a toddler and immediately freezes a funny expression spreading across his face and a light blush appearing on his cheeks after a few seconds. “Lu-Lumi” Nox slurs out sounding almost incoherently intoxicated “B-bbbbbb bubble go goo ggggiood” Confused Lumi pulled her tail and bubble out of his slack hands as Sol and Pix gather around them. Nox giggles and looks at them as he starts to sway. “He’s drunk!” Sol sighs looking down at Lumi “It appears touching your bubble greatly enhanced your abilities, be extra cautious with it” Lumi nods struck by how differently Nox was acting, he was almost as energetic and silly as Pix usually is and not his normal reserved soft calm demeanor. “Let’s go home, Lumi you and I will keep practicing until you’ve got the hang of your light and the emotions you are influencing people with” Nodding Lumi and Pix help Nox to be steady with Sol lead the way to their home.
